Title: Stability Off, Is It Off?
Post by: EB2019 on 22 January 2023, 15:25
Posted this in another thread

However one thing I'm trying to find out is if the stability off button is actually off on 7.5 GTi P cars (I know it wasn't fully off on our 2014 GTi PP car), but I think it was off on the Clubsport S and R?  Or whether its revised to allow a little more yaw?  Just curious if they did anything in that area?

From other cars I have had sometimes the face lift models have a better or revised TC stability system. The GT86 I had had a better TC feature for track so you could get it a little more sideways, understand its FWD but does it allow a little more movement in 1 press or a long press?

1 short press for "ESC Sport", which allows more forgiveness (and makes the car seem quicker in my experience, the TC doesn't cut the power as often)

1 ling press for "ESC off"

Like the 7, as far as I’m aware the stability system cannot be completely disengaged, even when “ off”.

I doubt there will have been any change from the 7.

I don’t think many people use these cars on track.

I might try the first option sometime, perhaps not in the cold weather though....

ESC Sport is great fun! You've got to give it a go. Addicting! You don't have to press on that much to feel it, and getting going from a stop is easier too, I think.

Shame if it's the same as before.

you would think the amount of things that get tweaked on life cycle updates over and above lights and bodywork, whether its throttle maps, TC or ESP I'm surprised its not something they thought could be improved. But I guess that means its the same as the old one, and as you say SJW its better with a quick short press.

@Yusee your right, I haven't seen many when doing track days, but lots at the Ring pounding round.  I've been overtaking by a fair few experienced Germany plate Gti's, but not as many as E46 and E90 though.

I tried this today but when I switched it on it pings up the yellow triangular warning light with the exclamation mark which stays on. Is that normal? I didn't drive with it on given how cold and slippery it was....

Yeah it stays on as far as I know, once its tells you about impending doom.

In my sig I think you can see it on the track day link, its permanently on and the other one flashing as it tries to sort the stability, but I could have been using a long press on the track day perhaps.

Okay, normal then. Thanks
