if i were to order big bumpers from GSF which ones do i need the conversion or the 89-92 bumpers?
-
well if you have big bumpers then just 2 bumpers otherwise you need the kit mate if you have small bumpers. i think both would be simular but the kit would consist of indicator lense's etc and loom
-
The kit doesnt have the indicator lenses (or at least not when i got it) but does come with a loom, even though for me the plugs were the wrong sort  You also get the bumper guides.
-
so is it 105 for front and 105 for back or for both as theres 2 differnt ones?!! Help me plz as ive got a loan thats burning a hole
-
maybe wrong kit im thinking off then, 1 i seen offered differnt colour lense's so im guessing you get them with it lol. if you have the old type small bumpers get the kit and some lenses if need be if you after replacing existing big bumpers with new ones because there damaged etc.. then buy the kit lol as far as i know there the same bumpers just one is for a conversion from small bumpers.

genuine big bumper skins are about that price from a dealership. Go to a scrappy and find big bumper 'bars' , brackets and clips etc and buy the plastic outer skins from vw.
cant beat a set of OEM ones
-
GSF ones are equivilant to the VW ones in terms of quality :) ECP ones arn't supposed to be as good.
-
I bought some big bumpers for a mk2 golf driver from GSF a few years back, they were crap.
-
Must admit mine are GSF and although they are good, in comparison to VAG ones you can tell the difference. Get the metal bits from a scrappy and the skins from VW.

I've never actually seen any "real" bumpers close up, but i didnt have any major problenms with mine! Only the usual stuff about jacking the engine up... which i didnt need to do. Oh, and the plastig lugs on the spoiler were bigger then the holes  so i had to trim them off a bit to get the splitter on.
The only problem with mine is the fact that i dont have arch trims, so theres a bit of a gap there  Though i have been offered some, i'm not sure if they'll fit. I have the 88 spec mouldings (non GTI), so would the 90 spec fit, as i heard that the rubbing strips were different on the 90 spec? Bit off top[ic i know, but i couldnt be bothered to start a new topic!
-
Yuo'll need 90 spec rubbing strips too. The new arches will go on but it'll look odd as the new arches have a thin strip at the edge & the old ones have a chunky strip. If that makes sence :)
-
youre better off to get genuin as apose to pattern cos they never fit proper you can always tell which are which cos of the way they look
-
Ive got a genuine rear big bumper, and its spot on, but the front one is from GSF, i thought my car was bent but it is the bumper not sitting right on drivers side. Go genuine mate, its a hell of a difference! Worth the money!
