Title: Gear lever throw
Post by: rowlers on 30 November 2022, 21:51
Just wondering how far the throw is on a standard GTI manual? And how this compares when fitted with the Audi TT short throw?

I reckon mine is about 3inch travel from 1st to 2nd, as far as I know, standard...

I love the "snappyness" of the standard box, so just wondering if the Audi TT short shift is worth fitting...

I can't give you measurements as I haven't had the car for nearly three years but I loved the feel of the Audi short shift. It's not expensive to buy nor difficult to fit (but make sure you are able to adjust the cables if needed) and if you try it, yes you'll lose a few ££ selling it on but compared to the cost of the aftermarket equivalent, it's not a lot.

Just been out and measured my CS gear throw.

It's about 4 inches measured centre to centre of Golfball.

I always found the Golf quite good on the gearshift changes, fairly close ratios

Mountune billet short shifter will absolutely change the throws and shifts on the mk7 gti
