Hello,
Hoping somebody might be able to help me with the following (mk8 Clubsport);
1) Both my A-pillar speakers have made a buzzing/rattling noise over rough road surfaces since day 1 of ownership. Lightly pressing the speaker will stop it every time. Already had one A-pillar trim replaced and it still does it. I'm sure it'll be a fairly easy fix of taping the speaker components down but removing the trim itself looks tricky. Anyone had this one and fixed it?
2) If the above is a common problem there may be a TPI for it. Is it possible for owners to access a database of TPIs for the mk8 Golf without going through a VW dealership? I was wondering if the erWin website might show them?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

I've got one that is caused by the overhead sos panel. A thump usually shuts it up. The dealer said they couldn't hear it. Maybe a thump might fix that issue too...

Mine has been in four times for exactly the same problem. Both A pillars replaced, didn’t work. “We’ve taped them down” didn’t work. It’s so frustrating and seems to fallen more and more often. I’ve written twice to my local VW dealership and they just say get it booked back in. They genuinely don’t give a turd.

Car has been back in for “the rattles” picked it up this morning. Drove back home and guess what? Same rattles are back. ❤️VW service team.

Ubique- I know how frustrating that can be. My car will be going in for service in May so will let you know if I have any luck with this/what they did to fix etc.

That’s annoying.
I’ve been fortunate with the five VW’s I’ve owned as far as unwanted interior cabin noises (creaks, rattles, vibrations) are concerned, as they’ve all been pretty much creak, rattle and vibration free. I did have a buzzing from the driver’s side B pillar in my last car, but moving the seat belt height adjuster up a notch cured it.
I’d always be wary of letting a dealer try and fix any unwanted cabin noises, as there’s a risk they might damage interior trim pieces when removing them to implement a fix and then denying they caused the damage (it’s been mentioned on forums more than a few times over the years). Additionally, they may create additional unwanted noises if trim pieces don’t get refitted correctly.

Yup same rattle, which I think is the a pillar, but really hard to pinpoint. Dealer can never hear it. Given up trying to get it sorted.

I’ve spoken to my VW dealer (Beadles Chelmsford) again this morning to point out that an 18 month old car being in 5x for the same issue is unacceptable. The response was just book it back in again…it’s utter crap.

If you're brave enough to give it a try, here's the 1st useful demo I've seen on Youtube for the mk8.

That’s an epic video, I’m not going to be doing that lol. Had a response back from vw earlier, referencing the “need to tighten the speaker screws” to get rid of the vibration. They reckon the speaker is glued into place not screwed in. I’ve never known glue to vibrate! So I’ve written to the franchise director to see if he gives a 💩

Update: I’ve been in contact with VW Customer service direct. They have spoken with the general manager at my local dealers and he has just contacted me directly to have the car taken to another Beadles dealer to have the vibration fault looked at “by a fresh pair of eyes”.
Apparently the technicians at a different branch might be able to solve the fault?
They are picking up the car and delivering a loan car.
VW customer services are going to monitor the situation daily until the fault is confirmed as resolved finally.
I’d suggest ringing customer services directly as they seem to have lite a fire under someone’s ass.

Hope they find a fix for you. Should be easily fixable I would've thought whether it's with a screw, glue or tape. I just have to lightly press against the speaker itself to stop the rattle. Let us know how you get on. Thanks.

The GM at Beadles Chelmsford has been in contact directly. My car is going in on Friday for the vibration, he’s lending me his car while mine is looked at another Beadles branch. Depending on how nice his car is I might keep it!
