Title: Dynamic Background Lighting
Post by: WelshGolf on 17 November 2022, 12:14
Has anyone purchased the Dynamic Background Lighting from the shop? It sounds like a fun gimmick, but just wondering if it's any good? It's suppose to change the background lighting based on some actions such as if a door is open it will highlight that door in a different colour?

I had it for a few weeks as a free trial. Yes, total gimmick! The only thing I remember it doing is, if you switched on the hazards, the interior ambient lights also flashed on/off. Completely silly.

TBH, after messing about with the ambient lighting in the first few days of ownership, I settled on one setting (red) and never changed it since.

I think mine was set to yellow or something similarly crap when I picked the car up.
At the first set of traffic lights I stopped at I changed it to red and haven’t touched it since.

Is there anything of actual usefulness in the ‘shop’? I’ve never been interested enough to fire it up.
23 months in and I’m still ‘guest’ too
What kind of substandard owner am I?!

Absolutely nothing interesting, because yours(like mine)is an early car, there is nothing for us in the shop other than data plans as we already have the stuff fitted for free(voice control etc).

Yeah same... there is nothing in it of interest. Its funny, as I've seen countless OTA software updates at this stage that mention "Shop" but I never see any difference in the shop. It has to be the least stocked shop in existence.

Thanks, I’m glad I’m not missing out on something exciting.
Just as well voice control was ‘free’ or I’d want a refund!

The shop is empty because you got all of the stuff enabled with the car... In the future, not so much
Title: DYNAMIC LIGHTING

I have set up my background lighting, so that it displays Blue when I change the Driving Mode setting to Economy (which is very seldom! ), Green for Normal driving, Red for Sports and Yellow for my personal settings. It means that I never need to check which Driving Mode is selected.

As for the Shop, I downloaded the App and activated my Amazon account to the car, which means I can ask Alexa to do various stuff, including playing my music requests, navigating and weather forecasts. I find it works well but, other than that, I've found nothing else useful in the Shop.

This is what I expected:) I too just set it to red and left it like that as anything else, with all the red accents on the interior, just looks odd

So I was bored and got the month free trial of this but nothing had changed in the background lighting screen? Anyone have it and can tell me what should be different

Also does anyone know if you can set your own colours for each driving mode?

It does a number of things but is NOT worth £35.

- When you put the hazard lights on, the interior lighting will also flash yellow/orange.
- Opening the door when driving, the interior lighting will flash at you.
- When accelerating in sports mode the interior lighting will get more intense (I didn't notice this when testing, so it might do it, but it is subtle).
- Unlocking and locking (I forgot to check this when I had it, but I assume it is similar to the hazard light one).
- Something about the visualisation of child locks but I didn't test this either.
