Hi guys
Just recently purchased a 2018 7.5 GTI PP and I am not able to get the car-net or vw connect setup.
I have got the connect go setup, using the odb plug they have provided, but that doesnt allow checking of the car location, lock and unlock etc, which is what I was looking for.
So really, has anyone else got it working, does it even work on this year and car?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Nilz

You're going to need to pay to subscribe to two services to be able to use some of those functions.
One does the SatNav stuff (sending new locations/routes to the car from your phone) + driving data, the other does the security side of things (sounding horn plus seeing if the doors/windows are open).
I think there is a certain amount of very basic free stuff...
Both services aren't cheap... I think about £150 per year for both.
I can't access the phone app since they did an update on 1st July this year.
Mine was all integrated into my 2019 car.

Hey @rudedog, thanks for your response.
Whenever I have gone to connect to it or sign up, it says its free.
Saying that though, I cant even get to it as it wont let me register the car or anything at all.
We recently got an Audi and it was available on there for £30 for the year, it tells me the location of the car, windows open, able to lock and unlock etc.
Was so simple on there, but just seem to be going round in circles with the Golf.

Didn't VW pull the plug on the Mk7 carnet service?
The E-Sim service was taken down for sure.

Well I would be peed off if I had put my reg number and it still allowed me to subscribe and pay for to services at £150.
Mine still allowed me access up until July this year when they updated the app and then it didn't seem to open on my slightly older phone (still have an open ticket with VW.de over this).
Just checked the VW site and using the compatibility-checker it says it's available for my 2019 car.
My SoS light still goes green after start up so I'm guessing that's connecting to something?

The SOS thing is different to the VW services.... SOS is a 2g/3g thing that is not OEM specific but an EU standard.

I have just checked on the VW website and it also says that it is available on my car.
I have noticed on the car there is a little globe icon that is greyed out, I have read that it should be white, but not sure how this happens, if anyone could advise?
