Hi all, is it possible to turn the brightness down on the infotainment screen on my car? I find it distracting at night.
It is a 2016 PP with dynaudio if that makes any difference.
Failing that, has anyone found a dark mask/screen which fits over the top to reduce the brightness?
The handbook doesn't really help unfortunately.
Many Thanks.

Hi, on mine, turn infotainment system on, then its Menu/Settings/Screen to adjust the brightness - I’ve never bothered changing the factory setting though.
The screen also goes into dark mode at night when the auto lights flick on, but I think that’s just the Sat Nav.
Good luck👍
-
Thanks mate, I will take a look tomorrow.
It is very bright especially when displaying white items like radio station logos.
Can you also make the screen go to sleep completely with the radio/music on?
-
Not sure on the last question - there is a ‘Screen Off’ option but not sure if that turns just the Screen off or the whole Infotainment system? You’ve made me curious now so I’ll try it later.
TBH, I just leave mine displaying the bar, kw power and oil temp gauges unless it’s a rare occurrence of Sat Nav use or changing a radio channel.
Edit - sorry, just noticed yours is a slightly earlier version so stuff may have changed, but I guess it’s worthwhile having a play around in the settings.

Well i have managed to find the screen settings, it was set on maximum brightness, so I set it to the darkest setting and now is all good.
I will have a look later to see if I can find the driving data display but I haven't found it yet and have had the car 6 months...
Screen off with the radio etc on would be a good option if that is there.

I’m going for a play later👍

Press the "car" button multiple times until it cycles through to the display you want :) Then you can drag the dials up and down to select what you want to see

Excellent, thank you.
-
Top tip - Turn profiles on for your car and then set up a daytime version with brighter dials and then a night time with the darkest lighting.
No more faffing around with settings just a 2 second switch of the steering wheel button when you turn it on

Excellent, I will have a look later. I didn't get the chance yesterday.

Interesting thead. Is there any way of brightening up my reversing camera display screen? Thanks.
-
Well i found a function to turn the screen off. Well sort of anyway...
In the menu that contains screen brightness there is also an option to turn the screen off after 10 seconds. The only problem is that the screen goes black but the backlight remains on.
I cannot find any driving data on my car such as acceleration, boost etc only the blue trainer.
-
I just toggle through the ‘Car’ button to get to the gauges.
-
It doesn't seem to be there. I get blue trainer, and driving data but nothing else.
Maybe it needs to be enabled in Carista or similar?
-
Mine was there from day 1 with no need for any additional add ons?
-
It might be because mines a pre-facelift.
-
Pretty sure it ws not available on pre-facelift.

Are you talking performance monitor? If so that’s SWaP
Plus screen off after 10 resets after ignition off
-
What does SWaP mean?

What does SWaP mean?
SoftWare as Product (basically you tell the servers in Germany to add it to the options on your car so that any new update of firmwares don’t remove them) you can check out what products you have by looking at the FEC’s listed in your MIB
Basically a upgrade that you can buy (although there are other ways now that don’t require going through VW’s main servers in Germany)
But also some cars if you enable performance monitor the gauges read zero due to either incorrect hardware or firmware
I could go on and tell you how FEC’s work but that’ll probably bore you😂
-
The only stupid question is the one you don’t ask.
Feel free to bore away👍

Thanks for that. It isn't the end of the world not having it that is for sure.

Yeah I’ve got it, saw what it looked like, thought that’s cool, never looked at it again 😂

Use it to keep track of oil temp so I can have other data in the instrument screen. Don't use satnav much.
