Title: New member long time GTI fanboy. Looking for advice on gearbox issue

Hello all. Just signed up today as something strange happened on the motorway yesterday. Was pootling along on the motorway for all the sudden my ACC went into fault and big red warning light on dashboard saying gearbox fault apply the brakes and an immediate loss of power.
Does anyone know what this may be?
Mk7 GTI performance pack with stage one APR tune and 80 odd thousand miles however never skipped a beat since bought from new.
Any help would be appreciated as obviously could have ended quite badly!

Is it auto or manual?

Not sure if the 6 or 7 speed was available on yours, has it had the gearbox serviced?
