Title: Clubsport squeaking
Post by: RoryB on 06 August 2022, 12:46
Hi, anyone else have their GTI make this sound? It's not consistent, happening under different circumstances. Anyone have any ideas? No easy to hear but it's the best I could record.

Never heard that on mine. Is it coming from that specific area that you're filming?

It's hard to tell but it doesn't sound like a regular interior squeak.

Long shot, but do you have your heated mirrors on?

I think it's coming from the engine bay

Could it be coming from the strut top mounts? I had to have mine changed and the suspension bushes greased at 5000 miles. At first it wasn’t obvious where it was coming from.

Me too and had them done again at ~18k.  Mine was more of a creak than a squeak and it seems a bit weird for it to do it whilst stationary.

Yeah, first thought that is was something in the suspension but now it's happening when the car is stationary so I don't think it can be. And it's not consistent, it doesn't happen all the time and it's hard to get the dealer to do anything without them witnessing it.

I had parts replaced on the front suspension under warranty. A known suspension fault. It was more of a creak.
