Title: Wireless Charging - Space for the big phones?
Post by: simonwhite2000 on 13 June 2022, 13:16
Read a few things online about there not being enough space for the likes of a Samsung S22 ultra or iPhone pro max.

Any truth in that?

I don't have one to try but I'd say it could be a bit tight for the big "phablet" phones such as the iPhone Max etc. I have a standard sized iPhone 11 and I think that "just fits".

Note that the wireless charging barely gives you a trickle of current, it'll maintain current charge level at a push and thats about it. It also tends to make the phone very hot! So all in all, its not that useful tbh.

Completely agree with Joe on that.

If you use wireless Android Auto your phone will be dead in 4 hours and too hot to handle.

Better to plug in via the USB-C cable for longer journeys because that works well and charges fast.

I have a Samsung S21 Ultra and only use the cable to charge when on the move.  The phone will not retain a constant connection with wireless if on the move and this unreliable connection/reconnection will make the phone hot as others have already mentioned.

Thanks for all the input. Wireless in my 8 series works brilliantly and has plenty of space so bit frustrating to hear but at least i know!

I have an IPhone 12 Pro and that fits fine, agree its not the best at charging though the small VW cable plugged into the USB-C port does a far better job
