Title: MK7 Rear Speaker Side Panel Removal (3 Door)
Post by: random_nickname on 12 April 2022, 12:43
Can anyone tell me if there is a guide on how to remove the side panels in the back seat of a 3 door as I can only find videos / tutorials on the 5 door which is pretty much the same as removing the front doors but very different in a 3 door version.

I have my car booked in to pull a dent on the rear crease and he suggested drilling a small hole in the door shut to get to it and then inserting a grommet in the hole as it can be difficult getting the rear speaker panel off to access the dent from the inside. Obviously I don't want him drilling if he doesn't need to and wanted get the panel off for him to save him the time. Thought it would be easy to find a guide but the internet has failed me!

Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure if it's still relevant to a MK7, but when I had my MKV Golf, I had a shopping trolley dent just ahead of the fuel filler flap in the middle of the rear panel. My PDR man jacked the car up, removed the rear wheel arch liner, and there were then a few large grommets which one of them when removed allowed him to get his PDR tools up inside between the inner and outer skins and did a perfect job, Grommet back in, wheel arch liner back on and job was a good one.

That's interesting. Mine is about an inch from the door handle. I wonder if he can reach it from there? Might be too far across? Funnily enough I am having my wheels refurbed at the same time (all 4) so my wheels will be off anyway. Would be nice if he could. Knowing sods law its probably best to take off the panel anyway just to be on the safe side.

Thanks. I did see that but without the pics it seemed like it was hard to follow. Maybe it will make sense when I'm actually doing it? Shame there isn't a video. Bloody typical!

I had a dent in the rear quarter of the Tig. I took the rear light out for the PDR man to gain access.
