Title: Mk 8 software update for June 21 clubsport
Post by: Andy Gibbs on 06 January 2022, 12:02
Hello GTI 8 er's

I had my car updated again. Still the approach unlock will not work. They tell me it works. It does not. What a quirky car this is.

The software is 1668, panel 2092, Nav base21.11, Hardware H56.

Love it though!!!!!!

I have the rear carbon effect bumper protector fitted. I think it looks fab.

Do not try to get the genuine Carbon effect mirror caps as they do not accommodate the side protection warning lights. They only fit standard cars without the warning light.

Depends how you imagine it works...

Basically it only works for you approaching the rear.

It doesn't work any other way.

Yep can confirm, mine only works from the rear approach, but have switched that option off. Put car in garage and lock the car. Close garage doors, and lock the padlock, and hey presto car is open again

Car looks well mate.

My unlock on approach was turned on when I first got the car. Didn’t like it so turned it off. However, 4 months on it still unlocks it’s self from time to time! Mainly when I’m washing it, which pisses me right off!

Is it on the handles as well?

Mine was sporadic at best when I got it changed its mind when I walked up to it stood there trying to unlock it like a melon!

When I sent it in for the OCU update I mentioned it and they changed a control unit in the handle I believe and ever since its worked faultlessly

Yes there are two fixes... one is replacement keyless controller in the drivers door, the other one is a software upgrade.

Mine only needed the software fix.

Mine will also lock and unlock when pressure washing the side mirror area.

M6TT F - It’s so annoying. I’m sad and clean my car a lot and whenever I’m wiping doors down or applying protection, it is constantly locking unlocking itself.

Today the faults have returned. Won’t unlock on the handle and won’t lock on the handle. It did the exact same thing when it was really cold last. I’m thinking I might need both the part and software fix.

Going to book it in for my days off next week so let’s see.

Try leaving the key in the cup or pen holder in the centre console when cleaning the car. It’ll stay unlocked then. Works for me.

Great idea but it has made me feel totally stupid! Why didn’t I think of that!
