Seems good value, based on the figures quoted on VW’s website; around £800 all in compared to over £1,600 if you pay as you go - see below. As with all these products though, check the small print to make sure it’s right for you - e.g. does the breakdown cover include more than just roadside assistance?, do you need to get your car serviced by a VW dealer during the term of the All-in product or can you use an in dependent VAG specialist? Also, I’ve read on another forum that if you’ve missed any of the required or recommended service actions, then these need to be carried out before your car is eligible for cover.

I have the extended warranty on my 4 year old GTD and in my opinion it is worth it for the peace of mind.

Although my car has been very reliable so far, my Mk5 was sadly not reliable in later years (I kept it until it was almost 7 years old), and developed a fault with the gearbox that VW wanted £700 just to strip it down to investigate.

As new car prices seem to be soaring at the moment, never mind the long lead times, I figure it's better to keep what I have and buy a warranty for it than risking the large expense of a repair bill or the guaranteed large expense of a brand new car.

Of course it is only my opinion, others may see it differently.

Today my car is 3, and the warranty expires.

I didn’t extend.

The only component I’d be concerned about is the infotainment screen, and the chance of that failing is very small.

Anything else can either be fixed for less, or not much more than the £400 or so quoted for annual warranty, or is so unlikely to fail at this stage that it’s not worth worrying about.

Peace of mind costs money!

That said, the package quoted by OP does look very good value, I’d probably have taken that if I didn’t already have a service agreement

Mine cost £288 with a £100 excess, which to me seems a good balance between having cover and not.

I'm not expecting anything to break, but it's nice knowing that if something expensive does go pop, it should be fixed for £100.

Of course the cover isn't as comprehensive as factory cover, but it covers all the bits I'd be worried about. Namely engine, gearbox and infotainment.

Snap mines 3 today as well. I've taken the All in warranty out. After being told by all at my local dealer that I had missed out on the Black Friday offer when they put my details in I got it for £25/month bit of a result

Oh yeah, forgot about LED lights.

Ok, so apart from infotainment, dsg box, led lights, what is a warranty good for??

My car is 3 years old on the 28th of this month so taken out the VW extended warranty at £277.00. Its a no brainer to me and gives piece of mind should anything serious go wrong.

Can I ask why you didn't take out the All in at £400/year for 2 yrs? For an extra £123/year you would get a service each year, MOT and roadside assistance? Not having a go just wondering

So here is my predicament. My car is not 3 until March 22 but it needs third service in Jan so it’s booked in.
I bought the 2 year service deal from VW recently so that the Jan service would be picked up.
But I would really like the big package deal on offer for cars 3 years and over.
I can’t wait until March to service the car so I’m kind of screwed on getting the big value package unless I
1) can cancel the 2 service package
2) but the 3 year old deal now
or pay full price for the Jan service and buy the package in March.

If you've only just bought a service plan but haven't used any of the services, you can just cancel. You'll lose all the payments made to date, but would probably still be better off with All-in depending on how many payments you have made.

If you need a service now, I would just speak to VWFS and see if there's anything they can do.

Bit late reply but as you may have found out you can't take the All in out (nearly broke into song there  ) until the car is 3yrs old so you'd have to wait until March to do it.
