Hi, my local VW dealer has contacted me advising my leased 2019 plate Golf R is due a service. I assume this means a major service as it had a minor service about 18 months ago.
How much should I expect to pay please?
As it is a leased car do I have to get it from my local VW dealer or can I go to one like Kwik Fit who may be cheaper?
Thanks

Prices of VW servicing for cars 3+ years old at the link below, but I doubt the prices will be much different - if any different - for a two year old car. So you’re probably looking at around £350 for a major service.

If you own the car, you’re free to get it serviced outside the VW dealership network, and provided the garage you use is VAT registered and uses genuine VW parts and fluids are to VW spec, the warranty shouldn’t be affected. However, with a leased car, as the car’s owned by the lease company, they may have specific requirements regarding where the car is serviced, so check the small print in your lease agreement. If in doubt, speak to the leasing company.

On from this what is the service interval for the VAQ LSD on the performance packs?
Mine's due an interim 6k mile oil change in November (19 plate as well) so if it's 2 years might just get it done while I'm in.

A major service is at 4 years, the first 3 years are either oil or inspection services although I don't see much difference between the two. Assuming you are on an annual regime.
Pretty sure the diff is 3 years or 30k miles. Good luck trying to get a VW dealer to do it, I asked mine 3 times and they didn't know what I was talking about

VW couldnt tell me if my diff oil had been serviced due to GDPR or some nonsense.
So ive got the haldex fluid ready to do mine, but i cant find out for definite if a pump relearn after changing the oil and cleaning the pump filter is necessary or not??

Sweet, my dealer's actually very accommodating (or happy to take my money) so hopefully will have no issues when the time comes, if not there's a few specialists around me.

Last year for Black Friday VW had a special offer for a major and minor service which from memory I think was £359. For those considering a service it might be worth holding off a couple of weeks to see if they offer something similar this year.

Yes, I did the same - it was £400 iirc

You’re probably right. Maybe it was the other way round, £395.

Hmm strange Agnews had an offer running there around May for a minor and a major service for £365 & a free brake fluid change.

I'm confused.
My car never refers to a major or minor service. It's on long life (variable) service intervals, and in the car settings system it either has an 'inspection service' or an 'oil service'.
The inspection service is coming up in 1200 miles, at 21,000 miles, and I can't work out if that is the larger or smaller service. Even worse, when I ring local VW dealers they seem confused, asking how many miles it has done etc. Surely the car works out what service it needs and clearly says oil or inspection!
