Title: Front Assist Not Available
Post by: zainahmed48 on 20 August 2021, 21:52
Hi,

I removed my grille today as I was respraying the chrome on it to gloss black. After reattaching the radar and driving around after around 10 miles the car said front assist not available.

I switched the car off and on again but the error stayed, so then I thought maybe I’ve not put it in correctly. I took it out and popped it back in again and the error still remains.

Any idea what’s happened?

I'd imagine because you removed the radar itself, it's triggered it to thinking it needs recalibrated. possibly you can to a soft reset via VCDs or equivalent app?

Sigh.

I don’t have access to VCDS but i can get hold of OBD11 pro - I think there’s a setting in there somewhere too?

The OBD11 Pro tools are just as good as VCDs now in my experience, give it a go and see if you can do a soft reset. Beats the £300 recalibration if it works.

So update, I scanned with OBD11 and here is what it says.

There doesn’t seem to be any option to reset the misalignment angle in my basic settings for control module 13. Would I need VCDS?

Has it definitely gone back in the properly? Mine took a hefty push for it to click back in properly. Even when it was slightly lose the VW tech just unclipped it and stuck a piece of furry trim tape behind and then clipped it back in. Never once had an acc error.

Pretty sure its definitely back in. Will give it a hefty push today to see if it works.

Beats the £300 recalibration if it works.

Dealer are charging me only £150 for calibration as I had a bit of a goodwill favour to call in from them. Worth it i reckon?
