Anyone used VCDS and Hex+Can on a 2018 model year Golf or Polo?
Thanks
-
Yep used it for a few things.

Thanks for that.
What version VCDS?

Thanks for that.
What version VCDS?
The latest version, is it 21.3? What do you need a hand with?

I wanted to look at the advanced measuring values for the auto trans on my Polo GTI+.
I'm using 21.3.0.0, this is what i get after an auto scan

I asked Ross-Tech support with an older version of software, this is part of the reply.
No, you need a newer version for newer cars, not an older version.
2019 and newer model year vehicles are not supported by your HEX+CAN as explained here:

Ah right I use the HEX-V2.
You've answered your own question though that the HEX+Can is no longer supported for newer vehicles, if you want to scan the polo you'd need one of the newer models eg HEX-V2.
I'd assume they want people to upgrade to generate further income, rather than actual limitation from the OBD harness.

I was working on the assumption that the Polo was probably using for the most part, electronics similar to the Golf MK7/7.5 and what worked on the Golf Mk7/7.5

HEX-V2 uses a different board/chips within the connector allowing communication with newer modules.
Different protocols as well are likely the case.
Hence the Hex-can failing as it was designed/manufactured before the newer cars were made..
Seems from 2016 VAG started using different styles of communication modules hence the older cables no longer working on newer vehicles past said date.
Hardly a "income generation plan" that older technology cannot communicate with newer modules in vehicles.
