I was drilling my air box today, on my 1.6 carb (pierberg) and i think a piece of debris has gone into the carb, its permantly at about 3/4 throttle. Could a piece have jammed the carb open?
I am in the middle of taking the carb of to take it apart anyways, anyone got a weber they want rid of asap
Might as well get one while my crappy pierberg is off.
Cheers, Warren.

would either of these fit my engine?
1.6 driver as i said before,
cheers, Warren

Have a read through this:

If you had the air filter on it nothing would have got into the carb. As long as you drilled the front and not the back, and you took it off first!
It sounds to me like the coolant channel o'ring in the inlet manifold has perished, common fault on old carby models.
P.S. neither of those webber carbs look right ;)

oh yeah lol i drilled the right place with the air box off, and then went for a spin down the road without the filter in and as soon as i opened the throttle it stayed open, so thats what made me think something was stuck in the carb holding the throttle open?
Flips sake, i think i will have to get a weber asap
ps how the heel u get his thing of the manifold,
one bolt at the front, and one at the back right, i thought they were 10mm but it would fit on, so i tried 11 and its too big, wtf is going on!?/!?!?

Has 3 bolts going thru it, they are normal size ones so I think you might be trying to undo the wrong thing!
You went for a drive without the filter in?! You could have done all kinds of damage
-
Driving without airbox on is not good... you could of sucked up a bird, or a small child?!!!
To take the pierburg off the manifold there is 6 bolts on top the carb (with airbox off). Three of them split the top of carb from the bottom....Dont undo these or you will be in all sorts of trouble if you cant remember how it goes back together!!
The other 3 split the whole carb from the manifold, i think its the 3 tallest bolts?! Those Webers on Ebay dont look like the right ones but im not 100% sure.

ok i got a weber off ebay, the correct one as far as i know, here's hoping, so will take the pierberg off bit by bit if i can't get it off in one
wish me luck
