Hi
I’m looking to trade my 18 month old Fiesta ST in for a Golf GTI (Basic spec, Metallic paint+different wheels).
I’m wondering what kind of deals are available at the minute. Carwow prices don’t seem to be too great. The best I’ve seen are Drive the Deal prices (just under 30k).
If anybody has any tips on beat prices etc or advice that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You'll do well to beat Drive The Deal on price TBH.
But lead times might be an issue.
-
Yep. Use DTD directly or to either beat or match their price at the dealers. I’ve just posted in another topic though that I was advised that the wait is now 54 weeks for a gti. Gulp!

54 weeks!!! Wow

Crackers eh!

Wow this must be a new record!
That’s the thing price isn’t the only thing you should base your decision on.
You might find a retailer that can get you a car a lot sooner but can’t offer any or much discount.
But I would be taking advantage of the high used car prices and getting rid of your as soon as possible.
The question you have to ask your self what is your 18 month old Fiesta worth in 3-6 months….. let alone 12 months …….

Wise words as always Lee.

I’m getting offers of 18.5k to 19k at the minute and I have quite a bit of equity in it. I’ve looked at the latest Mini and I was also hoping to view the new polo gti but there is no sign of it.

The new (facelift) Polo GTI is showing on VW’s website as ‘coming soon’ and as far as I’m aware, the order books haven’t opened yet so it’ll be some time before you’ll be able to view one.
Last year when I bought mine, lead times were around 7 months, so once order books do open for the facelift version, I’d expect lead times to be at least 7 months - probably longer if the supplies of semiconductors haven’t improved.
-
I’ve just talked to a dealer and orders are being taken for the new polo gti. Expected delivery is 3 to 4 months.

But that’s presumably the outgoing (pre-facelift) model as per the latest price list and spec brochure dated 3rd Aug 2021 on VW’s website (https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/files/live/sites/vwuk/files/pdf/Brochures/polo-brochure-pricelist-p11d.pdf) - like the red one below;

This is the forthcoming facelift model below - UK prices haven’t been announced yet and you can register your interest via VW’s website for more info as and when it becomes available;

That’s what the dealer said to me. The order book is now open for it and new cars usually arrive 3/4 months after the book opens. He might be wrong but that’s what he told me. I was thinking the golf might be a stretch for me financially but the polo could be a good second best.

Polo GTI is built in South Africa so from a point of it being open for order anything from South Africa is usually at least 6 months.
From Fiesta ST to a Polo GTI……now of course I am a fan of the GTI but is that really such a jump forward?
Thing is you buy a Polo GTI and then experience normal depreciation when the market sorts itself out you will be sticking in that agreement for quite sometime. The only reason you can get out of the fiesta ST right now with equity is because of a once in a lifetime used car market.

I’m sure you can see why it’s tempting to trade in. Yes I understand they are quite similar cars. I really would like a Golf but the long lead times puts me off a bit.

You could sell your car now and grab a Polo GTI on personal contract hire….
