Title: MK1 golf Gti top speed

Hi, I have A mk1 Golf Gti 1983 1800cc
Engine code DX.
It's all standard with only 97000 on the clock.
When I bought the car 2 yrs ago with only 82000 on the clock, The bloke that sold me the took me out for a test spin. O' my god age 18 and going for a golf 1.1 it was silly fast. I love my little Golf I'm a enthusiast Not A Boy Race! I only use the car weekends and for the shows.

The top speed I get from my lil baby is about 116 and shes quite standard. ;)

Sorry, yeah its the top speed.
My car clock must be F%$*ed. Its pull of the bottom of   the clock and beyond All most to the reset needle. But the thing Ive read say that if the needle jump around between speeds its had it, but it don't.  Is they anther way to tell?
Or sould i just get anther one, Thinking about if I work it out my speedo is reading about 5Mph out every 30Mph which also but my mileometer out too. Sorry to go on But thanks Mark-Wun for the help.

Does sound like your speedo is misbehaving. Has it always done it since you've had the car?
Are your wheels standard?

Yes it has be like this since i got the car. Yes the wheel are standard 175/70h13. Where can get a speedo from New if pos (For the mileage)
