Title: Anyone know what this is? (Piece hanging from car)

I popped this part back into place but not sure what happened. Anyone know what it might be for? Just looks like a bit of plastic to me. I actually did notice it was loose a week back when cleaning the car but didnt think nothing of it.
Suspect a power wash might knock it loose again..

Yep, towing eye from the tool kit screws into the recess with the cover removed.

That plastic string thing should clip on the car to keep it retained.

Interesting, thanks.

The plastic string, if you zoom in on the first picture, was just threaded through the bottom hole. However I was able to wiggle it out, before putting it, and clipping the platic piece, back in.

I assume that is not normal, when you mention it should be clipped to the car?

To use the towing eye socket you pop the cover off and leave it dangling by the plastic string... That's why it's there.

Yes get that, the query was if the plastic string should be threaded through the bottom hole and no more? It seems a little bit flimsy is all but now that I've clipped it back in, maybe it'll be fine.

That diamond shaped bit goes in the hole and it expands so it can't pull through.
