Title: Reseting the MFA?

Been driving my golf for a month nearly and I still cant work out how to reset the MFA!    

When I pulled up at a petrol station the other day it reset itself or did i do something to do this?

Also I noticed that it wont switch between Temp, engine temp, MPG etc when I press the MFA button only sometimes.  

Is this cos it is on the way out? and is it easy to replace??

Hold the button in to reset the figures

To reset it hold either of the settings to zero. Sounds like the switch is on the way out. You may be able to take it apart and clean it up, but if you do be prepared to buy a new one incase it breaks!

first of id check to make sure the connector below the steering coloumn isnt back to front

if it is, then pressing the MFA button will reset it, and then shifting the 1 to its reset place will cycle thru the functions! took me a month or so to work out what was wrong!

just take of the bottom of the steering coloum surround (2 screws) and it will reveal the plug between the stalk and the MFA

i have a spare set of working stalks ;)

they are late spec and have the hazard light swith on top of the steering coloum

Thanks a lot.  Training to be an auto elecy should be able to do it.
