Title: Adelaides or Estorils
Post by: Prospective on 21 April 2021, 13:12
Those who have either are you happy with them?
Which is easiest to clean?
Are you happy with how they look on the car?
Thanks

I have Adelaides.

Look ok on the car.

Cleaning?  What is that?

Estoril look nicer I think. Not sure if they are lighter? Adelaides are 12.6kg a pop...

I'm looking to either get an Edition 45 or Clubsport with options and either of the 2x 19's so interested to see what others have gone for.

For me the Estorils look slightly better but the R badge is somewhat putting me off them.

Much much prefer the looks of the Estorils personally... Yeah I know they have an "R" logo but I could live with that.

ED45's come with the red rimmed special 19" wheels don't they?

Estorils.

I do like Adelaides as they look like they are huge, but the Estorils look like they’ll be far easier to clean and more importantly is that they’ll allow you easier access to clean the brake bells which is a fiddly job.

I should have said, if estorils were an option when i bought my car, I would have chosen them.

Call me crazy but I can’t see an R logo on these alloys?

I’m looking at the Ed45 but will probably replace the alloys.

I like the Adelaides but just thought there was too much going on in the design. The Estorils are a stunning wheel and a simple design. The R logo is odd alright but you’d take no notice of it.

I have a photo of mine with the Estorils in the lead times discussion if it helps.

I’ve gone for Estorils, thought the adelaides looked good in pictures but slightly fussier in real life - and they are effectively Richmonds with cut outs shape wise. Downside of the estorils is they are more common across the vw range, I’ve not seen Adelaides available on any other model, has anyone else?

(Will be interesting to see if there will be an aftermarket sticker to replace the “R”.

The Estorils are more rare on the GTI though although maybe this will change in time.

I'll share something that once you have read it you can never unsee...

Both the adelaides and the estorils have a weird design element that is a notch in the rim. Not one but lots. Each spoke has it on one side.

My ocd freaks out looking at it.

That little design quirk features on quite a few current alloy wheel designs, not just from VW.

Yes  I can well imagine it looks like that at a glance!
