Hi all, i get my gti serviced by an independant garage that uses approved parts and able to log it online with vw but just wondered if i dont take it for the annual visual inspection is there any way that vw could say my warranty would not be valid due to the inspection not been carried out??

The what?

Is your car less than 3 years old?

Can Independents log work onto the VW system??

Can Independents log work onto the VW system??
Some have access and can, but I don’t think all independents have this access.

Depends on what you mean by independent.
For most independent VW specialists, the answer is probably yes. But if you're taking it to Phil's garage under the arches then i'd expect it's a no.

One of the reasons I ask is following on from the recent changes to the We Connect/Car-Net app, now on the myVolkswagen website you can see your cars service history, very brief, either listed as 'Service Event' or Repair Event (?=warrantee work), at the bottom of the page it clearly states that only work carried out an authorised VW garage will be recorded and shown.
So maybe it's worth checking that any VW Indie is classed as a VW authorised garage if you want any services recorded, but as has been mentioned I would still go to VW if within the warrantee period (I guess that still includes where I've extended mine at purchase to 5 years).

I think that comment about only VW servicing showing up is saying that "only service records recorded electronically will show up"
And certainly some other places are capable of doing that - not all, but some.

After the warranty expires it is used for the MOT reminder.
