Title: 2l 16v conversion- what pistons do i use?

Am putting an 8v 9a passat block onto my 16v head but notice the piston tops are quite different- will i have to fit passat 16v pistons?
also noticed i have to swap pulleys,oil pump drive and distributor blank plate etc because its a flipping 8v..

wish id noticed this before buying block and maybe noticed a 16v veedub instead :undecided:

if i do need pistons, any idea of price/supplier? cheers

I don't think it will work at all if the block is 8v & the head is 16v?

If the engine is 9a you dont have a problem!!!
9a engine is actual from 16v Passat/Corrado!

Its a straight swap!

bugger, rubjonny you are damn right- it wont fit  :embarassed:
16v pistons are £106 each...

Rather than take anything else apart, anyone fancy making me an offer?
Bores are perfect, bearing shells are in fantastic condtion too...absolutely gutted

My valver is now sat in the rain with its heart savagely removed  :cry:

now think its actually a 2E block..

also would be able to deliver in south west or meet along M4 as am often in london.

Interesting...am off to London next Thursday (27th), returning Monday eve...driving M4 as A303 aint no fun without a mk2  :rolleyes:

Would it also help if i said that my 1990 Passat 2.0 8v mule (yep another stoopid buy!) has loads and loads of smooth torque...!!

Might try flogging double glazing next  :grin:

Aye the bits in my sig are only the ones I can be bothered to list and/or want to sell, I've got so much crap in there its now driving me up the wall, not helping that me & me dad are doing a MK1 cabby restoration at the same time!

Edit: How much do you want for the 2ltr block anyway?

maybe £250 including my nice 16v mk2 box?
i paid £200 for the complete engine after looking for bloody ages :embarassed:

Thats a bit steep for me, unless you want to swap for a set of 4 excellent B&W hifi speakers?  Theres at least 3 complete 2.0 8v Passat engines in my scrappy too

Ideally I'd prefer an 8v gearbox as they give better cruising on the motorway :)

yeh, serves me right i guess for being impatient...i reckon 8v Pissats must go to Bracknell to die- couldnt find one for ages in Mid Devon!!

and yep i now have an 8v box for my 16v too for the same cruising reason. trouble is i aint got anything to power it though..

b&w 603s are ace speakers (ive got ae109s) but not quite the drivers i had in mind  :grin:

I've got a pair of 601 S2 and a pair of 602 s2s, they sound awesome but I'm not allowed to set them up :(

I can't drive them either as i just sold me amp, I tried em out yesterday just to make sure they still worked, made me even more depressed  :cry:
