I need to buy one of these: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/linnmon-adils-table-black-brown-black-s49001965/ (https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/linnmon-adils-table-black-brown-black-s49001965/)
Maybe I could take the headrest off the passanger seat, move it forward as much as possible and then rest the box on top?

Hire some roofbars.... strap it onto the bars. Job done!

Yeah I guess so but it's only a £40 table. I don't feel it warrants that extra cost. I'll take a tape measure to the car later.

Short answer is no, 125x 90 will fit comfortably, you may be able to tip up onto the headrest but I imagine it will be very tight, if you do not have far to go, just let if hang out the back with the tailgate resting on a cloth and take it easy.
I just moved some 90x250 sheets today for about five miles and it was fine

Get it delivered?

As the box is quite narrow at 60cm, if you recline the front seat and rest the box on the top of the dashboard with a towel underneath to protect the dash top, it should be close to fitting.

I’ve carried 2.4 metre lengths of timber in a Polo using a similar method to this and they fitted with the tailgate closed without any issues. So if the 60cm width of the table will fit in a mk7 Golf without impeding the driver’s ability to control the car, then the 2.0 metre length shouldn’t be an issue. I’d ensure I switched off the passenger side airbag if transporting anything that has to rest on top of the passenger side of the dashboard though.

Nice, thank you. I took a tape measure to the car and it looks to be fine. The table is only.£40 and delivery is £40 so I'd really rather not do that but it seems to be all good.

Bloody IKEA. Best thing about lockdown is that Mrs G doesn't drag me to that seven levels of hell!

Don't see the reason for the OP's question...I can get something that large in mine no problems.....
OP must have bought the wrong Golf...

It's not the size, it's how you use it. I just have to contort mine into weird shapes and it's fine.

I really hope they keep this click and collect thing. Not sure if they had it before lockdown. I know what I want, just give me it. I don't want to keep doing the Ikea grand tour.

I don't think we need to know what gets your kink on....
