Title: What are the alternative options to the pop and bang DSG fart on my GTD.
Post by: Ej1749 on 05 February 2021, 17:23
Any recommendations on popcorn limiters. Or is there a way to make the car back fire when shifting? Just anything to get literally  any popping and banging at any point would complete me!!!???

It's possible. You need a remap and a special one tuned for that. Try one of the tuning companies.

............but be prepared for the back of your car to be covered in soot!

I'm getting a Stage 1 from Celtic Tuning this week but seen this on their website so it is possible.

The TCR already sounds better than any other golf IMO as stock but I'll be in touch with them next week to see if there is a tweak in the software to open flaps.

Hang on, diesel doesn't explode. It gets warmed up and expands, then evaporates. Injecting diesel when the exhaust ports are open, isn't going to cause a pop or bang like it does in a petrol car.

There are tuners out there offering a hooligan tune for an oil burner... Even they say you might think that not possible but it is

TCR exhaust doesn't have flaps to open. Pretty sure only the R exhaust had flaps.

Can they map it to blow smoke rings?
At least that’d be amusing.
Rattle, rattle, pop, puff!

I don’t know, just know from someone else the TCR exhaust is unique to that model. I know I have a neighbour with an R and he just whimpers past with hardly any noise 🤣🤣

🤣🤣🤣 I think it would just produce more black soot out the back

TCR exhaust is made by Sebring for VW and is unique to the TCR.  As others have said, I can't see how a diesel could be made to pop on upshift as dumping diesel in to a hot manifold will produce nothing other than even more black smoke.

It seems it can be done

My guess is by having a petrol injector plumbed into the exhaust pipe. This would mean having a petrol container mounted somewhere and a switch off the throttle to control the injector.

Can you not get someone to sit on the back seat and eat some rice krispies into a megaphone?  :undecided:

Yes, the exhaust fitted before the Akra became standard fit.
