Is it iOS compatible?
-
Seems not...

Thanks. So just Samsung phones
Had been told that you can only lock/unlock the car remotely with the app if you have the digital key
-
I thought the mobile key was to use your phone as the physical item you needed instead of the key... And that you needed digital key prep option on the car to do it. With that you can also send the key to someone else and revoke them as well (eg send it to a friend so they could get something out of the car and then stop them using it after they had done it)
I think from the we connect app you can only see if the car is locked or unlocked, not actually lock it.
-
I was under the impression it could be locked and unlocked from the app like with the 1 series. Oh well
-
Do you have the we connect app on your phone?
Are you asking because it doesn't seem to offer the lock/unlock option?
-
I’ve not got the car yet. But when I downloaded the app the demo showed lock and unlock
-
Probably does work then.
Which isn't the same as "mobile key" which is literally using your phone instead of the key to keyless unlock by tapping the phone on the door and then similar to start the car.
The app definitely can't start the car.

This popped up on the Mk7 board today:

You might find that interesting to read because i bet it works exactly the same on the mk8.

My we connect app only says wether the car is unlocked or not, I’m guessing you need the digital key option to actually unlock etc.

Is it iOS compatible?
Initially the BMW 2 series was android only. Now it will also work with iOS. So I'm sure that VW will be working on it.
The problem we have is that the BMW phone tray will not hold an iPhone 12 Pro Max with a protective case. First world problems.
-
It also appears to need particular phone models because they need a special chip for car keys..
For your iPhone plus, have you tried folding it in half?
