Title: Spotify via USB
Post by: ub7rm on 12 December 2020, 19:23
I had a 65 plate GTD (MY16) and have swapped it for a 17 plate GTD wagon.  There appears to be some subtle changes with the infotainment system though as far as I can see they are physically identical (MIB2 units).  Neither car has / had carplay activated.

In the old car I could connect my iphone via USB and play spotify through through it, see album art etc.  The new car doesn't seem to allow this - says something like 'no playable files'.

Worked perfectly in the old car... any ideas?

In case this helps anyone in the future I found the 'cure'.

Seems like you have to have at least one downloaded music file in the Apply Music app - this seems to allow iphone to behave like a USB stick.  Once that gateway is opened you can switch apps and stream through spotify or whatever.  Strange but true...
