Title: Noise from front of car
Post by: Smicker7 on 13 August 2020, 14:11
Hi, I have a 2017 mark 7 and recently it has developed a low frequency noise from the front. It is what I describe as an oscillating noise that I think is related to something that rotates.  I have replaced all tyres and moved front wheels to rear and it remains. It gets louder from saw 40 and increases up to 70 and seems to disappear above that.
No noticeable vibration or anything that would raise concerns .
Any thoughts before I head to garage

Wheel bearings?

Pump noise? (Fuel, aircon, steering?)

Bearings were checked and not source of noise.

Starts at 40mph could mean something flapping causing the noise. Years ago I has a windscreen wiper arm that hummed after 50mph. Have a look for anything that is loose that may cause it including under trays.

Wheel alignment is worth checking - four-wheel alignment rather than just a tracking check.
