Title: Lay Flat Rear Wiper On Mk2 - Where Am I Going Wrong?

A couple of people I know have mentioned that the rear wiper can lay flat,so thought I would attempt it today in between spraying up my eyebrow spoiler. Undid the bolt holding the wiper arm on, prised it off the spline and put it back in the "flat" position. However, when the wiper was activated, the motor whirred and the wiper didn't move.

Ended up putting it back how it was................what did I do wrong?

i think becos ure supposed to change the mechanism underneath not just move the wiper arm, look on matey matey for the tutorial of how to do it

did you put the wiper back on properly? and you need to adjust the resting position on the mechanism inside the boot.

like golf chick said, its the mechanism you need to change. you have to take the plastic cover off from under the boot then undo the 10mm (i think) nut from the motor and move the linkage and arm round till the wiper lays flat and then put the arm back on the spline and tighten the nut back up. if i had a rear wiper i'd take some pics to show you!

Cheers guys - had a look on Matey Matey, will leave it for another day I think. This weekend I finally put my new eyebrow spolier on, so that's enough effort for this week LOL  :laugh:

Or you could do it the proper way like I did on my mk2... Get a wiper arm form a polo coupe and use that. The 'bend' is more pronounced and it allows it to sit above the rear window rubber... Check this out here...

I went to do this to our valver this morning only to find it was already done just never noticed  :laugh:
