Hi there my 2015 manual gearbox Golf GTd has a bit of a problem as soon as I go to change up Gear with the little icon on the dash telling me to change up it's as if the throttle backs off for you like a bit of a flat spot.. could this be the throttle pedal?

Unless you're red-lining and bouncing off the limiter, there should be no hesitation. The message to prompt a gear change is to encourage economical and can be switched off. This message shouldn't coincide with hesitation unless you've hit the limiter with your foot down.

No it's only when really light throttle has been applied like when you're just really lightly changing say from third to fourth really low revs it says if it'll back off the throttle for you
-
What sort of speed/revs are you talking about?
Is the engine up to normal temperature or is it still cold?

Any operating temperature say when im just cruising quietly and change up when minimal throttle is being used it will back off as if youve completely come off the throttle for a split second. Hard to explain i know...

Is the car new to you or is this a change to how it used to be? If it has changed, have you changed anything else which may account for it? Do you have the driving mode in Eco? Might be worth having it scanned for fault codes.
