That's a pretty neat unit!

Is it just android auto or a whole android platform with a sim card.?

Got a link to where you got it from?

Is the unit entirely in the dash or is it like the vw one with a brain box in the glove box?

Makes that garmin one look like trash though and arguably better than the ancient vw design too.

The brain in the glove box remains there, only the actual deck as a whole gets removed. The until is full Android, basically a 10' tablet.
This one here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x51EGh5IzXQ is for LHD vehicle, but the same hardware. It will give you a better view.

It is plug and play and connects directly to the "brain" in the glove box

It has USB output which will be routed to your glove box or the little box on the drivers side. That can be used with a dongle or you could just hotspot your phone as the device itself has Bluetooth and WiFi built-in.

Sounds like it would run OBD11. 🤔

Correct. No Android auto needed. You can watch Youtube while driving too.

Nope plug and play. Vw fitted it in for me, does not void warranty either.

No he meant you could run OBD11 on the unit itself - to make mods without using a phone!

You could even do it while driving.... what could possibly go wrong.
