Hi I have scanned my car using carista and got error code 16401 camshaft / crankshaft position correlation sensor b. Is this serious and needs to goto vw?
-
Carista likes to put up the 16401 code when the TPMS has been tripped! I’ve had it come up a couple of times and VCDS has proved it to be the case, even after setting the pressures in the infotainment it still pops up unless the fault is cleared, the actual code it is misrepresenting is one related to the TPMS having been tripped, I’ve found that carista seems to wrongly report quite a few codes.
Have you done anything recently like changing wheels or adding air to your tyres. Did you reset the TPMS?

Hi thanks for the reply I did I had a slow puncture and pumped the tyres back up. I will see how it goes why does it do this? Will it need a trip to VW?
-
I don’t know why it does this. Maybe because it’s a third party app which comes with its own glitches. I got rid of it and went with VCDS instead. What I recommend you do if not already is to go into vehicle settings..tyres.. and reset the types pressure monitoring system(TPMS). Clear all error codes and the scan again. I’d be surprised if it’s still there.

Will do thanks for that will also look into vcds this an app?

VCDS previously known as VAGCOM is the dealer spec diagnostic software developed by Rosstech. I use it for basic adaptations and as a scan tool but others on here go in depth into the long coding etc. Do a search on the forum for it. Did you get ye error cleared ?

Reset everything but error still comes back will try the alternative software and see what that pulls up.
