Title: mk3 gearbox problem

1992 8v gti
 was fine but on the motorway droped from 5th into 4th and after that it wont go back into 5th gear. goes into third. any ideas or is it a new gearbox time. cheers

:smiley:b no not new box :cool: look by selector arm in engine bay you find 1 of the plastic links has open or broken  fix that you have 5th gear again happen to me Friday fitted new box a month ago so was about to :evil: shoot someone but found the above :laugh:

I got the same problem on my 4 gear, 1.4 MK3 Ryder, its hard to put into or out of gear some times.

I thought maybe it was the syncro, but I will check that and see if helps me.
