I'm sure this has been done before...
Car has been banging on at me for ages about needing washer fluid. Don't get me started on how often it "bing"s.
Figured I might as well replace my streaky motherf***ers as well, as they're a couple of years old.
What's the general consensus on here? Bosch blades? Does the OEM washer fluid make a difference?
Cheers

Bosch Aero blades are great. They clean the window so well that it's hard to ever got back to normal ones after. Just a shame that they mug you off with the prices of them when it's essentially a bit of plastic. Can get them a bit cheaper online or from somewhere like Halfords with a Trade Card.
You can buy replacement rubber for the Bosch wipers online as same a few quid but it's not genuine Bosch rubber and just someone making some to fit. Might not be as good quality/last as long
Never heard of anyone buying OEM washer fluid. I bet they'd charge you a premium price if you did buy it. Wouldn't do it myself

Not sure why people think VW washer fluid is expensive, it's not. I've just bought 5l of quantum premium for 15 quid which will last ages. I've never bought any other washer fluid 🤷♂️

Bosch blades - I did mine a few weeks ago. From Halfords, not expensive and the results are amazing.
My old ones had gone hard and useless.

I always compare eBay and ecp for Bosch wipers.
Ebay is usually the cheapest.

Gsf car parts do sales every week sure it’s upto 60% off just now

I bought 5L for £2.50 not too long ago. Triple QX cherry screen wash. I can't imagine there being any difference tbh.

Got my Bosch Aerotwin blades last year from B and B Components on Amazon. At the time, they were the cheapest I could find. Delivery was free too, which was an added bonus.

ECP for Bosch wopers when on offer obviouslt, every week
I use OEM screenwash as I tried BMW screenwash thinking it would be comparable but felt the spray wasn't as good.
Keep looking on ebay and it crops up occasionally cheap. I also asked local dealer to quote me for bulk buy of a box of 10 & the price came down a fair bit.

Somebody posted a link to https://www.windscreenwipersdirect.co.uk earlier, and I've used them a few times in the past, always well priced and fast delivery.
I bought five litres of Quantum screenwash concentrate from eBay before winter set in. I can't remember how much it was, but it was relatively cheap. Make sure that you get the variety for use with spray washer jets, or you risk becoming clogged up, and nobody wants that.
-
Depends how old your car is. I was told that the washer jets that produce the fan shaped output on the windscreen are a lot finer than usual and that mixing different washer fliuds can cause the fliud to sort of gel up (to be fair I saw this on a Ford) and block the washer jets. According to the dealer if you don't use VW washer fluid and the jets do block that's not included in the warranty, if you do then it is. Don't know how true this is of course!
-
How will they tell? They can't, if asked you say yes of course I use VW fluid
-
Has sir been using non-VW washer fluid? Let me look into your eyes..... LIAR! All warranty cancelled, car scrapped, DONE.

You'll also void your 12 year anti-perforation if you don't wash your car every week with VAG approved car shampoo and wax every 3 months with VAG approved wax, all available at 300% markup from your local dealership parts department.

Screenwash won't gel up if it's actual screenwash, diluted properly. It has a high concentration of methanol or Iso Propanol when neat, with maybe a little ethylene glycol and perfume/detergents in small concentrations.
That's not going to gel neat or even diluted 4-fold with an effective alcohol content of at least 20%
Algal or microbial growth will potentially cause gelling if you're partial to filling your screenwash reservoir with water and a dash of washing up liquid in the Summer.
