First post for me here, I'm about to take delivery of a brand new '69 plate 3dr Manual GTI Performance that I managed to get a great lease deal on so I've been perusing the forum to learn as much about the vehicle as possible.
I currently have a '17 plate Polo GTI which I've loved having and in some ways I'll be sad to see the back of but I expect that'll be forgotten quickly :-)
Aside from the Deep Black paintwork, the vehicle is standard which is a shame as I'm not a huge fan of the Parkers but I've managed to find some new Brescia's that I'd like to swop out for the Parkers. Is it just a case of swopping the 18's for the 19's, does anything changing that I may not be aware of.
From all the info I've found it should be a straight swap but I wanted to be sure before I bought the wheels as they're not cheap.
Also will the wheel caps on the Austing fit the Brescia's or will I need new ones?
-
They should be a straight swap and just bolt on - assuming they’re genuine VW OEM wheels.
Sorry, don’t know if your existing centre caps will fit (I would think they’ll be the same). If they don’t, it should be relatively cheap to buy replacements.
-
Golf to golf are a straight swap. Both 112mm from centre for bolt holes, Polo 100mm from centre - in case you have some Polo winter.
Might be worth searching the Polo forum. Someone on there kerbed their 18" Brescias (18" design on the Polo) and found replacements from the VW contracted manufacturer a hell of a lot cheaper than VW supplied wheels. Not officially OEM but the same wheels direct from the manufacturer. Might be worth buying a set new from there.

Thnaks guys, was hoping the caps would be the same size despite the wheel being an inch bigger.

What forum is that, I'm not a member of any of the Polo ones! If I can source them cheaper then all the better.

Not sure what other prices you have found, but these are about £1,250 delivered from Germany

The standard centre bore is 57mm I think, your existing 65mm VW centre caps should fit no problem.

Have you thought about going from 17" rims (I assume on the Polo?) to 19" ones re effect on ride quality?

He's not. He's currently got a Polo, but is soon to take delivery of a Golf on Parkers.

But changing to Brescias...

That's right, Polo's still rocking the stock Santiago's, I'm after 19" Brescia's on the Golf

These were what I was going after unless anyone can point me in the direction of anywhere cheaper? I want genuine one's mind, have seen the CM cheaper alternatives, look ok but aren't entirely the same.....

I have 18" Black pretoria's from CM Wheels, have had no problems they came with blank centre caps and I purchased domed VW badges from Ebay.
I live in the country side and it's pot hole heaven, If I bang/buckle one I can buy a replacement wheel for not much more than a refurb would cost and a lot less than another genuine one.
My son has a GTI too and he's looking for a set of Belvedere wheels and he's undecided on aftermarket or Kunzmann too.

Bit the bullet and ordered off Kunzmann last night, least I'll be able to sell them on in the future at some point and make some money back on them; in the meantime I'll enjoy looking at the very expensive pieces of metal!!
