Has anyone had a new clutch fitted on 1.8t? what sort of mileage can you expect to do before they need replacing if you drive sensibly...(Sort of) and how much will it cost to have it done?

My cars just touched 60,000 and is having a new clutch fitted under warrenty this week. Dont know how much it would normally cost.

MIne had one at 60K along with a £1450 bill  luckily it was before i bought the car. The cost was due to needing a new flywheel, not sure why, but the receipts make grim reading. ANyway, its nice having a 75k car that has a really tight 'as new' clutch.
Unless something fails or the car is driven by a moron, I see no reason why it shouldn't do 120K+ before wearing out. My Audi S3 had done 135K on the same clutch, still worked but was losing some of its 'bite'

its a dual mass flywheel, if that warps.. say hello to a £1000+ bill.
its not a bad idea to replace the flywheel with one from a mk3 VR6 when having the clutch done.. although vw wont do it, a specialist will.

What causes the flywheel to warp and why is it so expensive??? These cars really aren't very reliable, the amount of failures on young cars really is unacceptable...

What was wrong with it, mate? Surely it couldn't be that warn plates are covered? :undecided:
Mine's only on 36kish, & there's a judder from the clutch!
I've got a dealer warranty, though.
Perhaps I've warped my flywheel??? I do 'perform' everywhere!
