Is the OP thinking of buying some GTI seats off ebay and would like to know if their is a way of identifying what mk they came from?

The Mk7 seats are slightly different if I remember correctly in that they don't have the red perforation effect.

On Mk5 and Mk6 cars the headrests are more integrated into the back rest.

Might seem obvious, but do remember that seats for 3 door and 5 door cars are different. Also early Mk7 cars (without winter pack) don't have the switchgear fitted for heated seats.
