Has anyone got a different make cat/down pipe to cat back system.
I have currently got a Remus cat back and now want to get a sports cat/downpipe.
The Remus downpipes and a fair bit more expensive than the Milltek alternative, does anyone have any experience of running different brands together, is it possible and how is the fitment?

Scorpion downpipe is about the best value for money you can get. If you've got a bottomless pit of money there's BCS powervalve. Both are made in the UK however. Fitment shouldn't be a problem regardless of which catback you have.

Hi, yes they are quite reasonable, but say only to be used with scorpion cat back.
Think I'm just going to have to save up for the Remus one, which probably is the only logical option anyway.

All the actual cat back systems start at the same place on the car, at the factory join. So in theory any downpipe will fit any cat back. It all depends on size of the pipework.

The problems you'll have if you fit a cat-back from one manufacturer and a downpipe from another (both of which would be designed to work with the remaining standard parts is that at the joint between the downpipe and cat back, there will most likely be a small section that will be the same diameter as the OEM exhaust, robbing you of a bit of power.
Now there's a couple of options open to you here...
1. Buy a Scorpion/Milltek downpipe that should work with their cat back and get a custom exhaust place (Powerflow/Cobra sport/etc.) to fit it - although the cost of the fabrication might take the total price up to the cost of buying the Remus downpipe anyway. Worth checking though, it'll either be a short section of pipe (introducing another join) or alternatively involve cutting either the downpipe or catback (or both) probably invalidating the warranty(s).
2. Or, as you say, bite the bullet and buy a Remus downpipe.
EDIT - just looked at the Milltek website. You'd probably not need to cut the cat pipe section as they have a catalyst downpipe and a connecting tube to the rest of the system. Probably very easy for a custom exhaust place to make up a pie to connect the 2.

You should be fine tbh. I was running the Toyosports decatted DP with Akra Catback system and it all fit fine. Now using the Akra Sports CAT. But generally all the sports/decatted DP's will usually be of 2 types: 1 to marry to the standard ID system or aftermarket larger ID. But they'll all meet the catback system at the same place in essence.

After reading all the replies that say you'll be fine with any, you're going to splurge the extra for Remus anyway?
Not worth it, IMO. Each to their own though, good luck :smiley:

True but have to admit it's nice to have the full system from one manufacturer
