Hi all
Is there any way of reducing the seat height for the drivers side, it appears to be on its lowest setting but still feels like I’m up in the air, I’m not a tall guy either
Thanks

If it's on its lowest setting using the lever then i'm afraid that's it.
I feel my drivers seat is also higher than I would like. But it won't go any lower. It's definitely a higher driving position than my Mk5.
I've pulled the steering wheel out closer towards me on its highest setting and that has helped a little
There aren't many things i'd change about the car, but that's one of them.

Really? I like a low seat and, until my first Mk7, always had my seat on the lowest setting. Found the Mk7 too low, so have it a few notches up.

I've always been happy with mine, is yours a 3 door by any chance because that seat will be higher because of the tilt mechanism?

Im 6" 4' and im on the lowest setting and find it spot on. Mine is a 5 door and I also have the steering wheel raked out fully on its highest setting.

Dont get me wrong, there is plenty of head height etc, it just feels strangely quite high, ive come from an Audi A5 sport back and the seat was nice and low in that, i'm sure its just a case of getting used to it.
this and the Soundaktor are the only things i dont like about the car, the soundaktor is going this weekend...

Unplug the soundaktor. The cheapest, quickest and best modification!

The A5, being a coupe type thing, has a higher glass line that gives the impression of you sitting lower in it. The Golf is a hatch that's been designed to do the mundane and appeal to those that don't want to feel hemmed into their 1.0 base model.

Picking up on the coupe thing, looked at buying a Scirocco at one point and I felt I was sitting higher in that than in a perf Golf with both seats in lowest position.

The Scirocco has less headroom than the Golf so you’d be sitting closer to the headlining in the Scirocco. That could give the impression of sitting higher in the Scirocco than in the Golf.
From VW’s model brochures - effective headroom for cars without a sunroof;
- mk7 Golf; 975mm
- Scirocco; 953mm
So a driver’s head would be around an inch closer to the headlining in a Scirocco than in a Golf.
-
Maybe it would - but impressions count. Its how you feel sat in the car even if you are physically higher/lower.

I think they do a really good job with the seats considering all the sizes and shapes of people that buy them, my 2 mates for example that both have had golf's in the past couldn't be different, one is 6'7" and 25 stone plus and the other about 5'5" and drives in the most ridiculous 'gangster lean' I've ever seen in my life to the point of not being able to get his hands above half way up the wheel without leaning forward, still both never had any complaints..... but they did look stupid when driving!

Totally agree that the seat is too high. I’m in a 2019 GTI-Performance with electric adjustment and leather trim. I’ve found having the tilt lowered is helpful in keeping the seating position lower.
Having said that, after driving 1300mi this week (Melbourne to Brisbane), the comfort this seat provides is next level, despite wishing it would go lower.
SIDE NOTE: has anybody else got electric adjustment and find that you need to lower the seat each time you get back in the car, because it somehow raises it slightly once you stop and get out? It seems like it’s a couple of minutes delay before it does it. Super frustrating!

When I'm hoovering the footwell of the Tig, 9 times out of 10, I'll look round and the seat backrest is completely flat.
