Always dubious about the idea of using OEM screen wash but rather than buying el cheapo I got some BMW OEM for a bargain thinking it'd be gine
However, the spray has definitely changed on the front and rear using BMW dilution guide.
Back to VW for me.
Anyone else found this?

OEM all the time. £4 a bottle and good down to -60 c so you can dilute accordingly. Smells good and is suitable for the fan jets we have.
Cheaper alternatives are available I’m sure.

I’ve used Halfords concentrated screen wash, 50/50 in winter, 25/75 in summer, over all my Golfs, with never a problem. If the dealer was closest, I’d probably be using OEM stuff, but Halfords is fine by me.
-
Lidl or Aldi can't remember which one used to sell big 5 litre bottles of screen wash for fan jets. Haven't seen any for a while though.
-
I've used Halfords or any old motorfactors stuff with VW fan jets for the last 20 years with no problems.
The thing that I don't understand is, who would buy ready mixed for the same price as concentrate?
-
I use Auto Glym Ultimate Screen Wash and haven't had a problem yet in the the last 7 years of VW Golf GTI/R ownership.
-
Get mine from Costco. I bet there’s nowt difference between makes.
-
I only buy the VW stuff and before that the same stuff for my Audi going back to 2003. VW and Audi garages aren't that local so I buy plenty and use it as an excuse to have a nose around the new metal at the same time
-
The genuine VW stuff is always popular on "What's the best screenwash?" threads on Pistonheads.
I buy mine from eBay, five litres at a time, decant it into 500ml containers for ease of use, and make up two litres at a time ready for use.
Make sure that you buy the version for spray jets.

Halfords Berry flavour ready mixed, used it for years on VW and BMW's with no issues.

Why do you buy ready mixed?

Where do you get it at £4 a bottle??
-
Halfords Bilberry concentrate, just for the smell alone. Works perfectly.

Why do you buy ready mixed?
Works out cheaper than the concentrate as the ready mixed is -10c for £4.50 or Conc' is -10c if used neat for £5 if you dilute it the freezing point rises quickly.
-
I dilute it 1 part concentrate, 3 parts water, even in the winter. Never had any frozen yet.
-
From the label, Concentrated is good for -20’C neat and -7.5’C 50/50, which is what I normally use.
-
The VAG stuff is the best out there, but difficult to get and pricey if you have two thirsty cars to keep.
I buy a 25L barrel of this stuff from the local motor factors and it lasts all year and doesn't freeze even when its relatively dilute. Cheap as chips

£4.72 or £5.66 inc VAT from the dealers.
It is very good stuff and good down to -70c.
I’m addicted to the smell.

For how much? The Halfords stuff is around £5 for 5 litres.
