Title: 2015 Model Changes
Post by: GE90 on 29 October 2019, 20:52
Hi

Does anyone know what changes were made with the 2015 refresh?

I think it was the start button and sat nav being standard, but I'm certain there were other changes?

Many thanks

Assuming you are referring to the GTi;-

Introduction of MIB2 media units.
Sat nav as standard
Winter pack as standard
Keyless entry as standard
App Connect available as a paid option

Excellent, thank you.

I don’t suppose you recall what the winter pack comprised of?

Thanks

Heated seats if you hadn't got leather already.

You already had heated washer jets with UK spec cars with bi-xenons.

That would’ve been the 2016 model year changes that were incorporated into Golf GTI’s built from build week 22 in 2015. Assume that’s what the OP is referring to as changes made with the 2015 refresh, and not the 2015 model year changes that would have been introduced into production form build week 22 in 2014.

Yep, assume that's what op meant. Week 22 2015.

Don't recall any changes of note for MY2015 (i.e. week 22 2014). Although the forum search function may bring something up.

Thanks.

It’s a March 2015, but has start button and keyless.

Perhaps keyless was an option then?

Any websites to check options list on a car?

Again, many thanks.

Think it would have been an option back then. Having a start button and keyless go hand in hand

I understand people in the trade can maybe access this info but don't imagine there is any free software that allows the general public to do so.

If you check your car’s data sticker, it’ll include the codes for the factory options that were fitted to your car when it was built. There should be a data sticker in the front of your service book, and another under the carpet in the boot area (on later cars, the boot sticker was hidden behind the plastic hatch opening sill to the right of the boot catch). Pretty certain there are various VW options decode tools and lists on the internet somewhere......... just Google ‘VW options decode list’ and there’ll be various resources that’ll enable you to work out what options you have.

If your car has a specific feature that doesn’t have an options code on the data sticker, then it’s probably safe to assume it was part of the car’s standard spec when it was built, or it may be something that was activated by a previous owner way of a coding change using VCDS or OBD11.

Start button and keyless were an option up until MY19, weren't they?

Dropped from standard when Mk7.5 launched, then brought back as standard later, can't remember exactly when.

As per someone's previous info, it was added to 2016 models which given some extra kit prior to the facelift.

Keyless seems to have come back from late 2018 for the run out 2019 models. It all got a bit confusing with spec changes and I think many is us lost track of what was changed when with the FL (7.5) cars as all the WLTP fuss and resulting build and subsequent delivery delays muddied the waters further, there were probably a hotch potch of cars sat in various places unregistered.

2015 model year changes here from our resident dealer http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=266414.msg2447926#msg2447926

It might well have changed, and we might well have lost track, but I'm never sure why it matters, you know? When you're buying a car, it's easy to find out what features it has. It doesn't matter whether they were standard at the time or not. Once you own the car, you also don't care whether they were standard or not. Who cares if they know what features were on what cars at what time?

Not sure thats 100% correct Fred - cars with xenons certainly did have the washer jets for the lamps (and the enlarged capacity reservoir) but the windscreen washer jets were not heated as standard. So on cars that had cloth interiors the 'winter pack' would comprise heated seats and heated windscreen washer jets.

........plus an indicator light for low washer fluid, I believe.
