March 2018 Golf GTD, so only 19 months old. Car is on personal lease with VW finance and I’ve had it since new.
Just found the wheel well with about 2inches of water and the roof lining above the parcel shelf is also wet.
I’ve taken out the boot carpet lining and put it by the radiator.
Can’t see where this would be coming from?
Is this covered by VW warranty?

Either Ariel or sunroof drains but it should be fixed free :smiley:

Hope so. Just read a few posts around the web where people are saying VW are charging for water ingress is saying it’s not covered by warranty :sad:

Just had another look and can see in the roof lining that the damp patch goes around where the aerial is

If the aerial assembly or rubber washer / gasket between the aerial assembly and car roof hasn’t been damaged by an external influence (such as a cut or split in the washer / gasket), then it should be covered under warranty. There’s nothing in the factory warranty terms and conditions that would exclude this;

If VW say it’s not covered, ask them to show you where it’s excluded in the warranty t’s & c’s.

Thanks. It’s never been through a car wash as I’ve always washed it myself so they can’t use that as an excuse!

Should definitely be covered by warranty. Unless it’s been removed previously then nothing they can really refuse it on.
Hopefully they’ll sort it.

I’m sure someone on here found that there was ingress from a hinge on the boot where it sits on the body but if you have damp around your aerial that’s a good indication.

I had water in the wheel well on the wife's GTI and it was all sorted by the warranty.
The technician reckoned it was coming in through the fuel filler flap.
Not sure how they can say it isn't covered.
