Not really feeling it myself but I suppose it fits in with the new era VW are hailing with the ID range etc.

Will there be a new GTI logo as well?

Sincerely hope not. GTI is a brand I don't believe VW would want to mess with or dilute and the badge being still as recognisable as it was in 1976 is a big part of that.

Quite like it and it’s certainly more different to the outgoing one.
Like with anything once you start seeing it more it’ll grow on you and feel like the norm.

The fact the R Line badge is the same but with a gray insert is a bit toss......

R Line one hasn't been released yet, has it?
"Getting back to the revised badge, VW is also making some changes to the all-show-without-the-extra-go R-Line logo. We’re going to see it first on Friday, October 11, with the debut of the Atlas Cross Sport R-Line in the United States."

I think it has. From the original release:
“The new logo will be used on models in two different forms. Full R models will use a full silver version of the logo, while cars in R-Line trim will get a two-shade variant of the letter. Those models will no longer have 'R-Line' spelt out in full on their badge.”
