So just wondering if anyone has ever had this happen.
No oil changes, etc but driving home yesterday and suddenly there was smoke coming out the bonnet vent and when I quickly pulled over to check, the oil filler cap had come loose. Was still on but literally just had to click it back in place. Oil everywhere so had the joyous task of cleaning that up last night.
Thanks,
Raj.

Eww! Hopefully an unfortunate one off occurrence.
Cleaning oil off engines is never fun!!
You don’t need us to remind you to just keep an eye on it as I’m sure you will, just in case it’s a fault, but it’s one of those things we all don’t think about until something like that happens.
Everyone on here will now rush out and check their oil caps!

Yeah I’m hoping it’s just some freak one off but I’m certainly checking it periodically just in case for a while.
Cleaning it off wasn’t too bad as used baby wipes on the CF bonnet  and degreaser on the engine. Luckily it wasn’t a huge amount and the bonnet vent made it noticeable more quickly as it sits pretty much just above that area.
