Title: Brescias... in black?!
Post by: gadgeygoo on 08 October 2019, 18:31
Hey,

Does anybody have any pictures of any 19" Brescia's in black, preferably on the car? I'm toying with the idea of having mine sprayed, but I've never actually seen it done before and wanted to know how It would look on a black GTI.

Also, whilst I'm here, any pics of any fully blacked out GTI's would be much appreciated :)

Cheers!

Never been a black of alloys as you tend to lose the detail and design.

I am for the first time currently running black OZ Superleggera's but that's only because they came like that but will refurb them (or sell them lol).

Some wheels look pretty good in black. Those aren't one of them.

I'd like to darken mine, but not sure about that dark. I might go for gunmetal

I’d definitely go gunmetal / anthracite. That’s what my Rays are on my 3er and think they look superb.
About as dark as I’d like to go generally.

Was going to PlastiDip, with a glossifier, but I think I might save up for powder coating as the white worm has gotten horrendous. Only trouble is, I'm on PCP.... will P/C cause a problem on handback? (If I so choose to)

If you are on PCP then I can only assume they may have an issue with them being refinished different to stock. Although I’ve never had a car on PCP so don’t know for sure.

Plastidip would be a good way to do it though as you can easily peel it off I believe.

I’ve not PCP’d before, but assume the PCP contract T’s & C’s will outline what you can and can’t do to the car.

If its PCP just hand it back to them with the white worm. That's what I would do rather than investing money into the car.

Agreed. Or buy some other wheels to use for now and stick the originals back one when it goes back.

My thoughts too.
Some cheap CM Wheels reps or even a second hand bargain set of wheels to use and then sell on again when the car goes back.

I actually don’t think the Brescias look that bad in black though but they do remind me of SUV wheels when painted like that. They look a bit ‘heavy’

If it didn't bother me, I would. But I like to take pride in the car. Some of it is due to being kerbed (d'oh!), but some of it has just happened. I have an ongoing warranty claim about it but I haven't heard in ages. I don't hold out high hopes

Has anybody any pics of the Brescia’s in anthracite/gun metal?

If I’m honest, I’d prefer black Pretoria’s because I think they look mint, but I’m just thinking of low cost ways of getting black alloys at the minute. In a perfect world I’d buy the Pretoria’s and sell/store my Brescia’s.

What’s the difference in value between the Brescia’s and some black Pretoria’s? I’m just wondering if swapping with somebody could be an option?

How about some genuine VW Pretorias in black but 18s instead of 19s?

You'll save a fair bit on tyres too...

CM Wheels sell loads of replica black Pretorias to members on the R Forum.
They’re a bit heavier than the OEM wheels but have better offsets.
They’re relatively inexpensive so you’d get your money back by selling the Brescias.
