Rear drivers window regulator packed up yesterday evening on a family day out. It was raining of course. My daughter had the window open and when it went back up to the top shut it made a horrible loud bang. Then it went down about 6 inches. When tried to use the switch there was a horrible crunching/grinding noise. Got it wedged up in position so I could drive to work this morning. I’d say if the rear window has been opened 10 times ever in its life so I’m surprised it failed. Have ordered replacement and will try and tackle it myself.
Has anyone else suffered window regulator problems or was I just unlucky ?

Yes me on my Golf R. It sort of just fell apart inside and was making the most horrific noise. Thankfully for me it wasn't actually broken and I had it rebuilt last week, half hour's labour.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I’d say mine is the exact same, horrific noise :undecided:
What do you mean by rebuilt ?

Just to follow up, I got the regulator replaced. The wire was completely corroded and rotten. I was amazed how bad it was. I’m worried about the other one now! :embarrassed:
On the brighter side of things, it was only a 30minite job and I didn’t even break any clips !!
