Title: New price list - no GTD ?
Post by: TonyJ on 19 September 2019, 20:29
Just noted that a new price list is available on VWUK site  -  no mention of Golf GTD ??

Don't know if this has been noticed on a previous post

... and lots of extras now included in price on some models .... surely a sign if imminent changes .....

The GTD isn’t on the configurator on VW’s website either.

With the official unveiling of the mk8 Golf suggested to be some time next month, VW may well be in the process of closing the order books on some of the mk7.5 Golf models. If they’ve accepted what they consider to be sufficient orders of certain models to take them up to the end of mk7.5 production, then they may have closed the order books on certain models, and the GTD may be one of these models,

As for lots of extras being included in the price on certain models - pretty much normal practice when a model is almost at the end of its lifecycle, to maintain customer interest in the current model until the new model arrives. Probably some good discounts available on the mk7.5 too over the next few months for anyone considering a new Golf if they’re not bothered that it’ll be an ‘old’ model in a few months time.

It's nothing to do with the MK8, the GTD hasn't been available for several months because the engine fails the RDE test. All new cars sold after 1st Sep 2019 must pass the new RDE regs. Any GTD's sold after the summer factory shutdown are previously build stock cars as they have not been accepting orders.

Probably decided on just how much cost/benefit they had from forcing the 184 TDI engine through the new regs given that they had a lot of configs to get through before the deadline AND the Mk8 with a brand new engine is just around the corner.

There are 14 brand new ones on AT (and 93 '19 plate ones) ranging from around £27k to £33.5k - you'd have to really be a doing a lot of miles to justify picking this over a GTI for similar money...
