You know there's a new Golf well on the way when VW announces extra kit to maintain interest in the current car. Three new trim levels announced;-

Already showing on Drive The Deal with healthy discounts, but nothing announced (yet) for performance models.

That R Line looks good but they are nearly performance model money so you've got to really want a standard engine to justify getting one!

I agree to some extent, although a 1.5 150ps DSG R Line is still about £4k less than a standard GTi DSG.
The problem arises when you start adding options to to it that are standard on the GTi, and that £4k gap starts to close without adding much to the residual value.

When you look at the serious tech on a 2019 GTI Performance DSG it is a real bargain.
As a Belgian/Dutch YouTube reviewer said “I don’t know how they do it for the price”.
I’m happy (apart from the rattle!).
