well i've taken plunge and entered the world of the MkI
i have a lovely Lhasa Green Campaign which needs a little bit of initial tidying
- the seat is knackered, is it easier to get a new one or can i just get the existing one repaired ??
- the leather steering wheel has come unstitched
- oh and she needs a new parcel shelf.
can anyone help?? any info would be most helpful and very much appreciated
thanks very much..

Nice one mate, welcome to the mk1 world
Not sure if I can give you much advise. There are plenty of companies that can do re-trimming of your seats
Ebay might have a parcel shelf or you could try a vw breakers (see the back of VW motoring)
Any pics of your mk1?
-
It might work out cheaper to go on ebay for everything you need. It all depends on your budget and what sort of standard you want your car to be at (high I hope).

welcome-mk1's do rock tbh..but i cud be being biased..
Dinx

good choice man, i also have a lhasa green mk1.
get the existing seat repaired as a good one for sale is vitually none existant. you may be lucky and find a seat that has worn in a different place so you can chop and change backs and bases. remember the seats in a green one are only found in the green ones.(usually called petrol stripes)
as for the wheel see if someone will stitch it up for you as these are like rocking horse sh!t.
parcel shelves can be had but expect to pay at £25 for a resonable one
-
round our end they can repair bolster for about 30 quid, parcel shelfs are fetching daft money atm (£117 on ebay for gud black one other day!!!!), i know it sounds daft but sometimes cheaper buying car

well thanks for all your help
just two things:
1. repairing the seat - is there anywhere specialist that i need to go? or will a normal upholsterer be able to do it?
2. likewise the steering wheel - who will be able to do that?
sorry, new to all this :undecided:
oh one other thing while i'm here.
- the drivers seat is rocking (towards the front right) is this a problem with the runners or with the seat???
Mr. Bronze,
pictures will be up at some point, she just needs a little tlc first...
and yeah, standards are high. not as high as my budget though  but i'll try...
thank you all again....

if the drivers seat is rocking this is an easy fix. take out the seat and on the 2 back legs there sould be white plastic bits. replace these and all should be good. it could also be the one at the front.
